French Bulldog Heat Cycle Calculator
Estimate where your Frenchie's current heat cycle may fall, understand the typical stages of the canine reproductive cycle, and estimate when another cycle may occur. This tool is for education and planning only.
💡 Important:
Dogs do not follow an exact monthly reproductive
calendar. Heat-cycle length, ovulation timing and
the interval between cycles can vary considerably.
This calculator gives a broad estimate and should
not be used to determine an exact mating or ovulation
date.
Enter the first day you noticed
signs such as vaginal bleeding or
vulvar swelling.
If you do not know her usual interval,
the average option is a reasonable
starting point for an estimate.
If available, adding the previous heat
start date lets the calculator estimate
the actual interval between her last two
recorded cycles.

French Bulldog Heat Cycle FAQs
How often do French Bulldogs go into heat?
+
Female dogs commonly cycle about twice a year,
but the interval is variable. Veterinary references
describe intervals between cycles ranging roughly
from 4 to 13 months, with an average around 7 months.
Individual dogs may have their own pattern.
How long does a French Bulldog stay in heat?
+
The visible heat period varies between dogs.
Proestrus averages about 9 days and estrus also
averages about 9 days, but each phase can vary
considerably. A complete reproductive cycle also
includes diestrus and anestrus.
What are common signs of heat?
+
Common signs can include vulvar swelling,
vaginal discharge or bleeding, increased
interest from male dogs, changes in behavior,
and increased urination or marking. Signs can
differ between individual dogs.
Can this calculator tell me the exact fertile day?
+
No. Calendar calculations cannot reliably identify
an individual dog's exact ovulation or fertile timing.
Veterinarians can use examinations, vaginal cytology
and hormone testing such as progesterone measurements
when precise reproductive timing is medically or
professionally required.
Can a dog become pregnant during her heat?
+
Yes. A female dog can become pregnant during estrus,
when she is receptive to mating. Because the timing
of ovulation varies, owners should not rely on a
calendar date to decide that pregnancy is impossible.
What if her heat cycle is much earlier or later?
+
Some variation between cycles can occur. If your
Frenchie's cycles suddenly become very irregular,
unusually frequent, unusually prolonged, or are
accompanied by illness or abnormal discharge, a
veterinarian should evaluate her.
Does pregnancy change the heat-cycle calculation?
+
Pregnancy changes the reproductive timeline, so this
calculator should not be used to estimate a cycle
while a dog may be pregnant. If mating has occurred
and pregnancy is possible, speak with your veterinarian.
This calculator provides a general educational estimate
based on the date of the last observed heat and the
approximate cycle interval entered by the user.
